Position Description

Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is conducting a search for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing to begin January 19, 2022.  Reporting to the Nurse Administrator, responsibilities include classroom, skills laboratories, lab simulation, clinical instruction for medical-surgical nursing, and/or psycho-social nursing, student advising, and committee work.  Successful candidates will teach 18 contact hours per semester in both day and weekend program options.  The Assistant Professor of Nursing will work closely with the College’s leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan 2020-2025. 

Required:  New York State RN license, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and enrolled in a Master’s degree in nursing program.  The successful candidate must complete their Master’s degree within three years of employment.

Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.

Preferred:  A Master’s degree in Nursing; strong communication skills, computer literacy, experience in team teaching, mentoring and curriculum development, ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds, ability to integrate critical thinking strategies into the teaching/learning process, and the ability to interact with external entities such as clinical sites.
